Kannapolis holiday festivities continue with the 79th Annual Cannon Pharmacy Kannapolis Christmas Parade on December 9. Since 2000 the Kannapolis Police Department has been recognized as an accedited law enforcement agency. In order to achieve this national designation the department meets stringent standards. One of the standards includes going through a reaccreditation process every three years. The department is now applying for reaccreditation. The City of Kannapolis hosted a public unveiling of the draft of the City’s new 2030 comprehensive plan, Move Kannapolis Forward. Once adopted, the plan will guide decisions related to land use and character, transportation, economic development, parks and recreation, environmental protection, health, and other planning topics. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. There will be no garbage/recycling/loose leaf collection service on Thanksgiving Day, and no loose leaf collection on Friday, November 24.
