The City of Kannapolis invites you to discover two distinctive and unique venues available for rental in Kannapolis: The Swanee Theatre and the Gem Theatre. These historic theatres offer unique atmospheres, amenities, and provide an unforgettable setting for private celebrations, corporate gatherings, or specialized entertainment events. Located in the heart of Kannapolis and its revitalized downtown, both are within easy walking distance of ample free parking, restaurants, and shopping. The theatres offer convenience and character, making them an ideal destination for your next event.

Every week the Swanee also offers a wide variety of live shows, concerts, exercise classes and more to the public. Each event is affordable and designed to foster community and fun.

The Swanee Theatre

The Swanee Theatre offers a completely different experience and opportunity for your next event. A recently renovated historic theatre from the 1940s, The Swanee now serves as a premier live music and entertainment space with a variety of amenities available. Both the main auditorium and several smaller meeting rooms are available to rent, making it ideal for both private and corporate events. Examples include birthday celebrations, corporate conferences, company holiday parties, banquets, live performances, and more.

The main auditorium can accommodate over 150 guests with banquet-style seating, or up to 360 guests with theatre-style seating. A variety of add-on services are available to simplify your event planning including AV and sound staff, bartending services, event staff, kitchen usage, and green room access.

The Swanee Theatre’s lighted marquee is also available to rent separately or as part of your event for special messaging starting at $50.

The Gem Theatre

Another option for renting an entertainment venue in Kannapolis is the Gem Theatre.

The Gem Theatre is a fully restored, art-deco-style movie theatre from the 1930s featuring a stunning and recently renovated two-story auditorium. The Gem offers a one-of-a-kind backdrop for both private and corporate events. Rental opportunities at The Gem Theatre include private movie screenings. Pricing and availability vary based on movie showtimes.

The iconic lighted marquee can be rented separately or as part of your event and customized with your personal message starting at $50.
