CITY STREET/SIDEWALK PROJECTS

| Little Texas Road Sidewalk |
The City of Kannapolis and North Carolina Department of Transportation held a public meeting regarding the construction of a sidewalk on Little Texas Road on January 26, 2021.
The Little Texas Sidewalk Project includes approximately one and half miles of sidewalk and pedestrian improvements along the east side of Little Texas Road and Ruth Avenue from Dale Earnhardt Boulevard to Lane Street. The project also includes improvements to the intersection of Ruth Avenue and Little Texas Road and roadway improvements along Ruth Avenue.
These improvement are designed to assist people to more easily walk or bike to the surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and school in this area. Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2026.

| Cannon Boulevard Corridor Plan |
The Cannon Boulevard Corridor Plan (CBCP) is a land use and transportation plan which will guide future redevelopment of Cannon Boulevard. The CBCP is intended to provide a long-range vision for the transformation of Cannon Boulevard into a 21st century thoroughfare. The plan will include strategic land use, transportation and design recommendations to facilitate this transformation. Cannon Boulevard (US 29) is a major transportation and commercial corridor which serves the City of Kannapolis, along with surrounding communities and the greater Cabarrus County/Rowan County area.
