Kannapolis Police Chief Terry Spry has announced two leadership promotions in the department. Arthur Reid, Jr. has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division and Dale Burris has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Patrol Division.
Arthur Reid began his career with Kannapolis Police Department as a Patrol Officer in 2016. He was designated as a Field Training Officer in 2019, then as Police Officer II in 2020. He was transferred from Patrol to the Felony Investigations Unit in 2021 and earned his designation as a Master Police Officer in 2023.
He has received a Unit Commendation for exemplary service, and an Individual Commendation for the performance of duty while conducting a homicide investigation that occurred in 2024.
Reid holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and has completed over 1,800 hours of professional training.
He is a graduate of Concord High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Everest University. He is married to Tanesha and has three daughters and a son. His parents are Arthur Sr. and Alesia Reid of Concord.
Dale Burris joined the Kannapolis Police Department in 2011. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2020. He earned designation as a Master Police Officer, is a member of the agency’s Honor Guard, a negotiator for the agency’s Special Response Team (SRT), and serves as a Field Training Officer.
Among his commendations, Burris was the 2013 recipient of the agency’s Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award. In 2019, he completed the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate Program through the North Carolina Justice Academy which requires well over 500 hours to complete. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and has completed over 3,800 hours of professional training.
Burris is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He and his wife, Holly, have twins: a daughter, Randi and a son, Cameron. He is the son of Roy and Sherri Burris of Mount Pleasant.
