All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed from Wednesday, December 24 thru Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas Holiday.

There will be no garbage or recycling collection service on Thursday, December 25. Garbage and recycling collection will operate on a one-day delay with Thursday’s route collected on Friday and Friday’s route collected on Saturday.

There will be no yard waste or loose-leaf collection Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26.

The Celebration of Lights will be closed December 24-25. The Gem Theatre will be closed on Christmas Eve but will be open on Christmas Day. The Swanee Theatre will be closed December 24-26.

City offices will also be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of the New Year. There will be no delay in garbage and recycling collection services over the New Year’s holiday, however, there will be no yard waste or loose-leaf collection on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
