City of Kannapolis crews have begun road brining operations today in preparation for the winter weather we are expecting this weekend. Leo Pope, Operations Manager at our Public Works facility, talked to us this morning about the importance of brining the roads and what our staff are doing to get ready for the storm.
Kannapolis has three brine trucks that hold a total of 1,900 gallons of salt brine. The brine helps keep the snow and ice from sticking to the roads once it begins to fall and it makes it easier for crews to clear off any ice or snow with our snowplows.
We concentrate our efforts on the major roadways and streets that lead to important areas such as the hospital, urgent care, and other critical businesses.
If you encounter our staff brining the roads over the next few days, please be patient.
