The Kannapolis Purchasing Division is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for all City departments. Our intention is to obtain the best value for the tax dollars spent from the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. The City seeks to carry out the purchasing process in the best overall interest of the City, in accordance with the NC General Statues.
Doing business with the City
The City of Kannapolis is pleased to announce that we are partnering with a third-party company, PaymentWorks (PW), to strengthen and better automate our vendor registration and payment systems. If you are a new or current vendor doing business with the City of Kannapolis, you will be asked to enroll in this new system. We require all the City’s vendors to register with PW to do business with the City of Kannapolis and to receive payments from the City’s Finance Department. This process is effective immediately for new and existing vendors.
To become a new vendor or update existing vendor information, please contact our pocurement staff via email at purchasing@kannapolisnc.gov
Surplus Property
The City disposes of surplus property for purchase by the general public through online auction at GovDeals. Throughout the year, surplus items are added as they become available, allowing the City to auction property on an ongoing basis.
To use Govdeals, visit www.govdeals.com and search for “Kannapolis”, or you can go directly to the City’s auction page.
NOTE: In order to bid on an item, you must register with GovDeals. Make sure you read the agreement stating Terms and Conditions. It is NOT necessary to register to check what is available.
Occasionally, the City does not use or have a need any longer for surplus items. Pursuant to the NC General Statute 160A-280 (Conveyance of Property), the City is authorized to transfer City property to a governmental unit, sister city, nonprofit, or charter school. Notices will be posted according to law.
