Five new officers have joined the Kannapolis Police Department. The officers have completed their basic law enforcement training at Rowan Cabarrus Community College and are now starting their field training. The new officers are: Jerod Barnes, Chase Crowe, Cody Franklin, Zachary Johnson and Brandon Moore. ATLANTA, Ga. (January 24, 2019) – The Southeast Tourism Society has named the City of Kannapolis’ Jiggy with a Piggy Festival, one of the STS Top 20 Events in the Southeast for May 2018. Tuesday evening, the City of Kannapolis and Atrium honored the 2018 Run Kannapolis and Loop the Loop Challenge participants during a special ceremony. This year 33 people completed all eight of the 5K Run Kannapolis events. Approximately 150 people participated in this year’s Loop the Loop Challenge. They walked, biked, swam or ran 21,000 miles. The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold two public meetings next week to present information about a project to improve a section of N.C. 73 between N.C. 115 in Mecklenburg County and U.S. 29 in Cabarrus County. The project’s aim is to reduce congestion in the corridor and provide accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists. The City of Kannapolis offices will be closed Monday, January 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Offices will reopen on January 22. There will be no delay in the collection of garbage and recycling but yard debris collection will be delayed one day.
