The Kannapolis Police Department announces the promotion of both Christopher Hill and Brent Rowland to the position of lieutenant and Alex Quigley to the position of sergeant.   Lt. Christopher Hill joined the Kannapolis Police Department in 2009.  He served as a patrol officer for three years before transferring to the Criminal Investigations Division as a felony investigator. Prosperity Ridge Apartments are now open. A joint project between the City of Kannapolis, Cabarrus County and two local non-profits, Prosperity Unlimited, Inc. and Wesley Community Development, the apartments will serve senior adults. If you have a business, church or school building that is closed or partially closed you need to flush your pipes (flush toilets/run faucets) at least biweekly. Unless completely shut off there is always some water left in pipes. If a building is not in use water in the pipes becomes stagnant. The City of Kannapolis Water Department recommends that you flush pipes biweekly by turning on faucets for a couple of minutes and flushing toilets. Progress on the first phase of the Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway continues. This first phase is 2.7 miles and will run along a utility easement from Orphanage Road to Rogers Lake Road. The greenway will be ten feet wide and paved. It is expected to be completed in later this summer. Earlier this week three pedestrian bridges arrived. A week after Cabarrus County and its municipalities enacted a Stay-at-Home Proclamation, Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) officials are asking residents to follow key components of the measure in order to limit transmission of COVID-19 in the area. Justin Smith has been promoted to the rank of Captain with the Kannapolis Police Department. Today, elected officials with Cabarrus County, the cities of Concord and Kannapolis, and the towns of Harrisburg, Midland and Mt. Pleasant announced revisions to their Stay-at-Home Proclamation.
