♻️RECYCLING ALERT♻️: Over the last few months, recycling carts in the City have been approximately 20% contaminated. This means we are not recycling properly and the carts are contaminated with trash. Entire truckloads are being rejected by our recycling vendors and then must go to the landfill as trash. The City of Kannapolis would like to congratulate the participants of the fourth annual the Loop the Loop Challenge. Loop the Loop is a series of loops around downtown Kannapolis and Kannapolis School facilities that people can walk, bike or run. Count your miles and you can win prizes. Kannapolis Police Chief Terry Spry announces the promotion of both Jennifer Hyatt and Brent Rowland to the position of Captain; Jason Hinson to the position of Lieutenant and Chris Howard to the position of Sergeant.     Captain Jennifer Hyatt will lead the Special Operations Bureau. Rowan County Public Health is excited to share that starting on Monday, January 11th, we will be entering into the Phase 1b/Mass Vaccination Phase for Group 1. The Cabarrus Health Alliance will host multiple drive-through clinics for the COVID-19 vaccine, with the next being Saturday, January 2, 2021. The clinics will be at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, located at 4751 NC-49, Concord, NC 28025. The City of Kannapolis has added two sculptures to its public arts program. “LOVE” has been installed at the Kannapolis Train Station on Main Street. The ten-foot steel sculpture simply spells out the word, “LOVE.” It has been purposefully aged to give it a sense of time and place in the historic downtown.
