The City of Kannapolis Facility Maintenance Department is committed to providing efficient, high-quality services that ensure City facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for employees and the public.
Our dedicated team of 21 employees maintains more than 28 City-owned buildings by providing janitorial, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and preventive maintenance services.
The department also:
- Oversees construction management for new City buildings.
- Completes smaller-scale construction and remodeling projects.
- Maintains landscaping at City Hall, the Train Station, the Public Works Operations Center, all five Fire Stations, the Fire Logistics Building, the Communications Tower, and College Station.
- Supports emergency operations during inclement weather by maintaining emergency generators, UPS systems, the City's fleet fuel supply, fire alarm panels, and security systems.
- Manages underground storage tank (UST) permits for unleaded gasoline and on-road diesel fuel.
- Oversees backflow preventers, irrigation systems, and conducts monthly inspections of fire extinguishers at City facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinates facility support for City special events in partnership with the Special Events Committee.

Rent a City Facility
The City of Kannapolis has a diverse group of facilities available to rent for conferences, training sessions, workshops, and celebrations. The facilities will appeal to you based on your individual needs and preferences. Spaces range from new and modern to historical and traditional.
Conveniently located in North Carolina, within the Charlotte Metropolitan Area, and along the I-85 corridor, you can travel to Kannapolis via plane, train, bus, or car. Airports in the area include Charlotte-Douglas International, Concord Regional, and Rowan County. Amtrak arrives daily in the downtown core near many of the facilities.
There are numerous area hotel and restaurant options available for your event attendees. There is no shortage of activities for everyone of all ages to enjoy. This could include the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord Mills Mall, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers Minor League Baseball team, and many more County attractions.
The City of Kannapolis has a variety of facilites, both inside and outside options, from formal and elegant to fun and relaxed. Some of the facilites are the Laureate Center, Train Station, Village Park, Swanee Theatre, Dale Earnhardt Tribute Park, and the Veterans Park Gazebo.
The City accepts credit cards, cash and checks for facility rental and special event payments. We look forward to working with you on your event.
