After 27 years of service to the City of Kannapolis, Purchasing Manager Renee Butler is retiring September 29.

Renee began her career with the City as a Purchasing Agent in the Finance Department. Throughout her tenure, she has played an important role in overseeing the City’s purchasing and procurement processes. Renee helped implement the City’s Purchasing and Uniform Guidance Procedures as well as its Procurement Card Program. Over the years she has also served on numerous City committees and initiatives, including the Employee Enrichment Program.

She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing (NCAGP) and the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), where she has served on planning committees for conferences and professional training opportunities.

A graduate of Mitchell Community College, Renee worked in the private sector for ten years before joining the Kannapolis team. A lifelong Rowan County resident, Butler and her husband, Gary, have been married for 42 years. They have three children and 13 grandchildren. She is a member of Amity Lutheran Church.

The City of Kannapolis thanks Renee for her years of dedicated service and wishes her the very best in retirement.
