June 29, 2023 KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Excessive rainfall on June 19th and June 20th resulted in downstream flooding of the Irish Buffalo Creek which primarily impacted the Town and Country neighborhood on Tiffany Drive. At the height of the event, the water overflowed the Kannapolis Lake reservoir spillway on Pump Station Rd by 38.5 inches. The Kannapolis City Council has approved the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget. The total budget is $104,385,876 which includes all seven operating funds of the City. The budget includes no property tax or fee increases.  The tax rate will remain at 63 cents per $100 valuation.
