For over 75 years the Gem Theatre has been the star of downtown Kannapolis. From movie premieres to special dates, from engagement proposals to wedding ceremonies the Gem Theatre has been an iconic structure and place of history for the City and its residents.

The City has installed new electric vehicle charging stations in the Kannapolis Train Station parking lot.
Located at 201 S Main Street, the charging stations are within a easy walking distance of Atrium Health Ballpark and downtown restaurants and shops.

The City of Kannapolis is hosting a Daddy/Daughter Winter Ball at 6 p.m., Saturday, January 20th, at the Laureate Center in Kannapolis City Hall.
This fun event is for dads and daughters to have a special evening out together. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed from Friday, December 22 until Tuesday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday. There will be no garbage and recycling collection service on Monday, December 25. Kannapolis recently celebrated the holidays with the Annual Christmas Parade. The special nighttime event featured over dozens of holiday themed and lighted entries and marching bands.
Entries competed for prizes in four categories of judged entries for this year’s parade: Civic, Church, School, and Band.

Congrats to Assistant Fire Chief David Winecoff, who is retiring after 36 years of service to the citizens of Kannapolis. Chief Winecoff began his career in firefighting as a volunteer in 1987 with the Royal Oaks Fire Department, which became Fire Station 3 when the City was incorporated and started its professional fire service.
While serving as a volunteer, he was also employed with the Concord Fire Department. He joined the Kannapolis Fire Department full time as a Battalion Chief in 2000....
