David WinecoffCongrats to Assistant Fire Chief David Winecoff, who is retiring after 36 years of service to the citizens of Kannapolis. Chief Winecoff began his career in firefighting as a volunteer in 1987 with the Royal Oaks Fire Department, which became Fire Station 3 when the City was incorporated and started its professional fire service.

While serving as a volunteer, he was also employed with the Concord Fire Department. He joined the Kannapolis Fire Department full time as a Battalion Chief in 2000. David served in this role until 2020, when he was promoted to his current role of Assistant Chief.

During his career with Kannapolis, David supervised shift level operations, department wide operations and the Fire Marshal’s Office. He is excited to have time to share with his family, especially his grandkids, Hunter and Waylon. We wish him the best in his retirement.
