The 4th Annual Kaleidoscope Arts Festival and Zombie Walk kicks off at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 24, at the North Carolina Research Campus in downtown Kannapolis. The festival, which runs until 8 p.m., will feature live painting by artists Shane Pierce and Shannon Quick, music by DJ Sin: Jami Nunn, as well as local "haunts" and hearses provided by the Reaper's Rides Hearse Club. Traffic/Water Alert - A waterline has been damaged at the intersection of Breckenridge Road and Kansas Street. This intersection will be closed while the waterline is repaired. Homes on Breckenridge Rd., Kansas St., Carolina Ave. and Dakota St. may be without water. Crews are on site and working now to make repairs. Repairs may take up to 6 hours.

The Kannapolis Fire Department dedicated Fire Station #3 today with a fire hose uncoupling ceremony and public tours of the facility located on Concord Lake Road. Kannapolis City Council members were on hand to dedicate the station by uncoupling a fire hose which was stretched across the fire truck bay which signaled the station is now operational. N.C. The Kannapolis Farmers Market will open Thursday, May 2, in time for you to enjoy an abundance of ripe strawberries, lettuce, berries, and asparagus. The City of Kannapolis offices will be closed Friday, April 19, in observance of the Easter Holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, April 22. Garbage and recycling services will operate on a regular schedule. There will be no yard debris collection on Friday. It will be collected on its regular schedule the following week.
