The City of Kannapolis offices will be closed Monday, January 15th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Offices will reopen on January 16. There will be no delay in the collection of garbage and recycling but yard debris collection will be delayed one day.

Update 3:30 p.m., January 4: The water main has been repaired.   Crews are working to repair a water main break near Rose Avenue. Homes near the break may not have water. A.L. Brown High School is being dimissed early because there is no water. We hope to have repairs made later today. Thank you for your patience as we work on this issue.

Loop the Loop, the fun walking, running, or biking routes in downtown Kannapolis are expanding. The City has expanded the loops to include routes at A.L. The public can get a first-hand look at how the City of Kannapolis Fire Department trains and responds to the emergency needs of our community by attending the Citizens Fire Academy. Work is underway on the Kannapolis Streetscape and Infrastructure Project. Construction crews will be installing duct banks to allow power lines to go underground as a part of this downtown revitalization work. This work will necessitate the closure of portions of Main Street in January. From about Jan 2-8, Main Street will be closed between about Vance and East C St (206 S. Main St).
