All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. There will be no disruption in garbage and recycling collection service; however, there will be no collection of yard debris. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m., Friday, July 5.
All Kannapolis parks will be open regular operating hours from dawn until dusk on July 4. In Village Park, the Rotary Express and Splash Pad will be open regular hours, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The City of Kannapolis has once again been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada.
The certificate is given to governments who meet the highest levels of governmental accounting and financial accounting.
The Government Finance Officers Association serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals in the U.S. and Canada.

The City has achieved the rating of a 1 – the best possible. The Kannapolis Police Department announces the following promotions of personnel. Daniel Wallace has been promoted to Captain; Allen Tomlin has been promoted to the position of Lieutenant; and Travis Kiser has been promoted to Sergeant.
