Easter Holiday Closing Information > City of Kannapolis | City of Kannapolis

News Articles

The City of Kannapolis offices will be closed Friday, April 10, in observance of the Easter Holiday. Offices will reopen for employees on Monday, April 13. City offices will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Garbage and recycling services will operate on a regular schedule. There will be no yard debris collection on Friday. It will be collected on its regular schedule the following week.

Several things have changed in our collection of waste and recycling in the City as we work to curb the spread of the COVID-19. Please help us with these requests as we work to ensure the safety of employees who are working hard to collect our waste/recycling:

1. Do not leave e-waste (computers/televisions) or white goods (appliances) at the curb. Take them to the Cabarrus County Landfill on Irish Potato Road or in your garage until we are able to collect them again. This change is because these items are collected by hand and a mechanized truck arm is not able to collect these items.

2. Do not put trash in your recycling cart. When we contaminate our recycling with trash, the recycling center must discard the entire load, and the City is charged a fee. If your trash cart is full, please hold your trash until the next week or ask a neighbor if they have room in their cart.

3. If you or anyone in your home is sick - please double bag your trash.

4. Do not bag your recycling. Bags clog and break the machines at the recycling center.

5. We are seeing an increase in the amount of waste/recycling because a lot of people are cleaning out their closets and garages. Collection may be delayed – please be patient with us - we will get it picked up.
