A group of area ministers has launched the Community Bridge Project. Their purpose is to build positive and healthy relationships among diverse groups within the Kannapolis community. The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department has opened registration for Youth T-Ball, Baseball, Softball and Soccer. Registration will close March 6. Youth T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball Children must be between the ages of 5-15 as of May 1. The registration fee is $40 for Kannapolis residents and $60 for non-residents, which includes the cost of uniforms, practices, and games. Scholarships and sponsorships are available. The City of Kannapolis is once again planning the annual Jiggy with the Piggy Festival to be held the weekend of May 4-7, 2023. The festival will take place in Downtown Kannapolis and the City is seeking vendors and sponsors to participate in the event. The City of Kannapolis recently honored the 2022 Run Kannapolis and Loop the Loop Challenge participants during a special ceremony. This year 16 people completed all seven of the 5K Run Kannapolis events! They received the designation of “BEAST”, commemorative Run Kannapolis medals and prizes during the ceremony. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade for Cabarrus County will be held in Kannapolis at 9 a.m. this Saturday, January 14.
