Beat the heat this summer with the Gem Theatre’s Summer Movie Matinees! Join us at the Gem Theatre on Tuesday, June 17 for a showing of the Garfield Movie, and on Thursday, June 19 for a showing of the film, Trolls. Tickets are $2 per person and show times are 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on both Tuesday and Thursday. Cannon Ballers Homestand | Atrium Health Ballpark | June 17 – June 22

Head on down to Atrium Health Ballpark to cheer on your Kannapolis Cannon Ballers! Games will take place Tuesday, June 17 through Sunday, June 22. The Cannon Ballers will take on the Charleston Riverdogs! Fireworks will follow the Friday and Saturday games.

Juneteenth Celebration | Veterans Park | 12 p.m., Thursday, June 19

Join us on June 19 for a Juneteenth celebration in Kannapolis!

The festivities will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Veterans Park, followed by a Cannon Ballers Game from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The events are open to the public, and the community is invited to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, connect and rejoice in the spirit of community and progress.

This celebration promises a day filled with music and entertainment, vendors offering unique crafts, inspiring speakers and mouthwatering delights from local food trucks.

Concert in the Park: Ambrosia with Special Guest John Ford Coley | Village Park | 7 p.m., Saturday, June 21

The Concert in the Park Series is back this week featuring Ambrosia with special guest, John Ford Coley! The concert will take place at Village Park at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.

Ambrosia, the band known and loved by a multitude of fans since the 1970’s, is now more alive and compelling than ever. This 5-time Grammy nominated ensemble is exploring new musical territory and bringing an exceptional musical performance to stages everywhere.

During Ambrosia’s early recording history, they garnered awards, received frequent radio airplay, and gained the admiration and respect of the musical community – in addition to their sold out concerts around the world. Ambrosia achieved five Top 40 hit singles, including “How Much I Feel” and “Biggest Part of Me”.

John Ford Coley is an American singer, guitarist, classically trained pianist, actor, and author. He is most revered as half of the Grammy nominated duo, England Dan and John Ford Coley.

John has created many memorable hits such as: “Love Is The Answer”, “Gone Too Far”, “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight”, “We’ll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again”, “Nights Are Forever Without You”, and “Sad To Belong”. John Ford Coley has performed stunning shows at casinos, large theaters, cruise ships, and more. His style of music is perfect for intimate events or big concerts, pleasing audiences of all kinds and of all ages.

The concert is free to the public. Children 18 & under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs. No pets or smoking please. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

A free shuttle is available. Please take time to review the parking map and shuttle stops. The shuttle service will be for concertgoers and will run from 5-11 p.m. Shuttle stops will be at the Cabarrus Health Alliance, the Nova Credit Union Overflow lot, City Hall, the NCRC Parking Deck and Village Park. The concert and shuttle are free to the public.
