The City of Kannapolis is accepting several new recyclable items. These items may now be placed into your recycle carts (yellow lid) for regular pickup every other week along with the usual recyclables: cardboard, cartons, paper and magazines, metal cans, and glass bottles and jars.

New items:

• Plastic cups (similar to those from restaurants such as McDonalds or Starbucks cups. No straws.)
• Plastic fruit containers or clamshells
• Plastic takeout containers (Preferably clear.)
• Plastic yogurt cups
• Paper cups

Recycling Reminders:

• All recycled items must be clean, dry, and placed loose into the cart. Do not bag recycling items.
• The lid of your cart must close completely. If the lid is not closed the cart will not be picked up.
• Do not mix garbage and recycling items. Contaminated recycling carts can cause an entire truck load to be rejected. Items such as tires, blankets and pillows, and wires are NOT recyclable.
• Recycling is collected every other week.
