It’s another great week to Discover Fun in Kannapolis! Get out and see all that Kannapolis has to offer!

The Concert in the Park series continues this Saturday, July 11 with The Four Tops at Village Park. Village Park is located at 700 West C. Street and admission is free. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. with opener Allison Rose.

Formed in Detroit in 1953 as the Four Aims, the Four Tops changed their name to avoid confusion with the Ames Brothers and went on to become one of the most enduring and influential vocal groups in American music history. The band launched a string of classic hits, including "Baby I Need Your Loving," "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," "Reach Out I'll Be There," "It's the Same Old Song," "Bernadette," "Standing in the Shadows of Love," and "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got)." Known for maintaining their original lineup for more than 40 years, the Four Tops built a remarkable legacy that earned them induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame, while Rolling Stone named them one of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and coolers are permitted with non-alcoholic drinks, but subject to search. Pets and smoking are not allowed, and children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The City of Kannapolis offers two free and convenient shuttle services for people visiting the City on concert days.

  • The Village Park Concert Bus operates from 5 to 11 p.m., with convenient pickup locations at the Nova Credit Union Overflow Lot, Cabarrus Health Alliance, City Hall, Village Park, and the NC Research Campus Parking Deck.

  • Visitors who wish to explore downtown before the concert may also take advantage of the West Avenue Shuttles, “Thunder” and “Lightning,” which operate from 5 to 10 p.m. These ADA-compliant electric golf carts provide service between the NC Research Campus Parking Deck, First Baptist Church, and the intersection of West Avenue and Cannon Baller Way near The Bank Food Hall. Please note that the West Avenue Shuttle does not travel to Village Park. You will need to transfer over to a Village Park Concert Bus when you are ready to arrive at the concert. The shuttles are available on Fridays and Saturdays all summer.
