2024 YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL

League Information & Eligibility Requirements

The child’s age on May 1, 2024 determines the division of play.

• 5-6 Coed T-ball             • 7-8 Coach Pitch Soft
• 7-8 Coach Pitch Base   • 9-10 Player Pitch Soft
• 9-10 Player Pitch Base   • 11-12 Player Pitch Soft
• 11-12 Player Pitch Base   • 13-15 Player Pitch Soft
• 13-15 Player Pitch Base    


5-6 & 7-8 Divisions: These divisions begin developing fundamentals for each specific sport. Rules are modified to present the optimum playing experience for novice participants.

9-10 Division: This division builds on basic fundamentals of a given sport. Rules are slightly modified to present optimum playing experience for participants with limited exposure.

11-12 & 13-15 Divisions: These divisions are designed to promote teamwork, sportsmanship and advance fundamental development. No rule modifications.

Registration and Fees

Resident of Kannapolis: $40
Non-Resident: $60

Registration fees include cost for uniforms, practices and games.

Registration wil begin January 15 and end February 26.

Equipment

Kannapolis Parks & Recreation will provide bats, balls, tees, batting helmets and catchers gear as needed. Kids are allowed to bring their own equipment if desired, we just ask that it be clearly marked with their name.

Gloves are mandatory and must be supplied by participants.

Cleats are optional but recommended. No metal cleats are allowed.

Parent Information

Additional parent information will be released online and via email after registration has closed. There will be no in person parent meeting.

Volunteer to Coach

We need your help!! Potential coaches must be at least 18 years old, complete a coach’s application, pass a criminal background check and sign the Coach's Code of Conduct. Approved coaches must attend a mandatory coaches meeting (may be virtual or required to watch a video) and will be given a photo ID Coach badge. Coaches are required to wear their ID badges at all practices and games. Completion of paperwork does not guarantee a coaching position.

Practices & Games

Coaches will contact players after team assignments between March 15-17. Please allow volunteer coaches time to contact each participant before contacting our office.

Practices will begin the week of March 18. Teams will have one practice per week (lasting one and a half hours).

Games will be played on Saturdays from April 6 through June 1.

Depending on schedules and field availability, some weeknight games may be necessary. Practices and games will be played at Kannapolis Parks and City Schools. Nearby Cabarrus County schools or additional facilities may be utilized if registration numbers dictate that a particular division play countywide.

Team Pictures - Team and individual picture opportunities will be available. Days, times and locations will be announced once scheduled.

Sponsorship - If you would like to sponsor a team opportunities are available. Please see the attached Sponsor letter and sponsor document or contact our office.

Special Request - Requesting a particular coach, teammate or practice night does not guarantee that request, but staff will do all they can to help grant a request.
