January 23 - 12 noon

Crews continue to plow and treat all major streets, such as Kannapolis Parkway, Main Street, Cannon Boulevard, Dale Earnhardt Loop, etc. in the City. No residential streets will be plowed as the 127 miles of major streets are the priority of the crews as they are the major arteries of our transportation system.

Conditions on these streets are improving slightly but Mother Nature is not helping much with the melting of the compacted layers of snow, sleet and freezing rain. We expect that any melting that occurs today will result in refreezing tonight as temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s.

Police officials thank you for heeding our advice and staying off the roads. There have been no accidents in Kannapolis since 5:30 am this morning. Please continue to stay off the roads. We really want you and your family to remain safe and injury free.

January 22 - 7 pm

Garbage, recycling, yard waste and loose leaf collection services will resume on Monday January 25th. On Monday, crews will begin by collecting the routes that were missed on Friday (1/22/2016). The remaining routes will be on a one day delay. Please place your items at the curb on your regularly scheduled pickup day and they will be collected as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

City officials are asking everyone to not travel on roadways. Despite the efforts of crews weather conditions are making the roads impassable. Please be safe and stay home.

January 22 - 3:30 pm

Public Works crews continue to plow and salt primary streets in the City. The forecast is for more freezing rain and 3 to 4 inches of additional snow from this evening until Saturday afternoon.

With this additional precipitation streets will be difficult to keep plowed and salted. We advise you to remain off the streets and stay safe at home.

RIDER has cancelled all bus services for Saturday.
