The Kannapolis Police Department recently partnered with MyPD for a local area mobile app specifically tailored for the local community. This smart phone mobile app can be found and downloaded from both the Google Play and iTunes online stores at no charge. Once downloaded, the mobile app connects and opens an avenue of information sharing from the police department to the community.

The main objective of this app is to allow citizens and businesses to access and correspond with the Kannapolis Police Department from a mobile environment whether a phone, tablet or other mobile device. Improved communications and building relationships in our community is a primary goal for the department. This smart phone app was created specifically for police services and combines information and online functions under one mobile environment.

“We are excited to launch this new means of communication with our citizens”, said Police Chief Woody Chavis. “Not only does this app provide the public with useful information, it also provides a means for our residents to send us information to improve our ability to address problem situations in the community.”

The app will also work in conjunction with the Kannapolis911 on Facebook and Twitter. Additional features include direct calls to agency components, anonymous tips, media releases, commendations for officers and civilian employees, feedback, agency and city government information, bus routes and other pertinent agency and city links.

For example, you can sign up for the City’s Emergency Contact System using the app. If there is an emergency or other important incident that could affect you and your family we can call, text or email you if we have your cell phone number or email address. The City has no way to capture your cell phone number unless you provide it to us.
