We are pleased to announce the promotion of three of our staff members.

Daniel Jenkins has been promoted to the role of Assistant Human Resources Director. His responsibilities will include the reviewing of personnel policies and procedures, overhaul of the performance evaluation system, updating hiring, recruiting, and retention of employees and oversight and administration of all risk management related activities.

Daniel is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a B.S. degree in Emergency and Disaster Management. He began working for the City of Kannapolis in 2013 as a firefighter. He was promoted to serve as the City’s Risk Manager in 2022.

Carter Mozingo has been promoted to the role of Athletic Coordinator. In this new role, Carter will be responsible for the involvement of over 2,500 children in the department’s various youth athletic programs, the Run Kannapolis Series, Loop the Loop, and adult athletics programs.

Carter has worked for the city for the past three years. The last two years he worked as the Assistant Athletic Coordinator where he assisted with the implementation of the City’s new athletic programming. He has a B.S. degree in Sports Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Tyler Sherwood has been promoted to Grounds Manager in the Parks and Recreation Department. In this capacity he will oversee the daily operations and administration of the downtown parks, the Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway, and other city owned properties such as the Atrium Health Ballpark.

Tyler has worked with the city for six years. In that time he assisted with supervision of the train, equipment maintenance and grounds and operations staff at Village Park and special event setup. Tyler has twenty years of experience in facilities and grounds maintenance. He currently holds a NC pesticide license and is a Certified Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO).
