We are pleased to announce the promotions of three of our staff members.

Becky Tolle

Becky Tolle has been promoted to the role of Recreation Superintendent in the Parks and Recreation Department. She will oversee the Recreation and Special Event coordinators, the Athletics Division, administrative staff as well as assisting with the human resources, budget and planning responsibilities of the department.

Becky has been with the City for 20 years and has over 30 years of park and recreation experience. She started her career as a part-time employee with her local recreation division while she was in high school and throughout college.  After moving to North Carolina, she came to Kannapolis as the first recreation and special event coordinator.  Becky helped start the Summer Event Series, Movies in the Park, Stories Under the Stars and many other popular programs. She holds a B.S. degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University.  She is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).  In her off time, Becky enjoys spending time with her grandsons, exploring playgrounds, and going to the movies.

Brett Mann

Brett Mann has been promoted to the role of Parks Superintendent in the Parks and Recreation Department. Brett has worked for the City for 13 years. The last four years he has served as Grounds Manager where he oversaw the daily park operations, contract management and administration of parks and greenways and city owned properties such as the Atrium Health Ballpark. He is a native of Kannapolis and holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Catawba College. He is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), Certified Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO), and Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). 

As the Parks Superintendent his responsibility will be to oversee and manage various aspects of the City’s parks and facility maintenance and operations. He will supervise the Parks, Grounds, and Concession Managers, oversee contracted grounds maintenance services, and assist with departmental short-term and long-term strategic planning. 

Wanda Jones will now serve as a Senior Accountant for the City. In general, her duties are to supervise the payroll and accounts payable functions, oversee the sales tax refund process, prepare and file the annual reports, assist in audit preparation and other accounting responsibilities.

She has worked for the City for over 20 years in the Finance Department. She has an associate degree in accounting and a Governmental Accounting Certificate. She is also a notary public and a member of the N.C. Government Finance Officer Association. She enjoys family time with her husband, two daughters and two granddaughters.
