Maria Bostian, Fire & Life Safety Educator/Community Outreach Coordinator with Kannapolis Fire Department, has been chosen as the new Chairperson for the Western Region Fire & Life Safety Educators Association. Bostian will serve a two-year term.
Bostian has 19 years of fire service experience; 14 of those have been with Kannapolis Fire Department. She has served as an at-large member and as Vice-Chair of the Western Region and has served in all Executive Board capacities of NC Fire & Life Safety Education State Council. In the spring of 2020, she was named “Educator of the Year” by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
“It’s an honor to serve in this capacity,” states Bostian. “It is my hope that we can move forward with in-person meetings and trainings and help promote fire safety and injury prevention in communities across the western region of North Carolina, as well as partner with our counterparts in the east. Fire safety and injury prevention have no barriers. I hope we work together where the needs are the greatest,” she states.
The Western Region Fire & Life Safety Educators Association is comprised of injury prevention personnel from across the western portion of North Carolina. Membership is free and is open to anyone who’s occupation focuses on injury prevention and/or anyone who has a personal interest in fire and life safety/injury prevention initiatives.
