Programs & Events

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of recreational programs and events throughout the year, including trips and athletic leagues.

Below are a few points about our concerts and events.

  • All the concerts/ movies in the park are free of charge. There is no ticket price or charge for admission. 
  • Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics/ coolers are permitted and concessions will be available.
  • Please NO pets, tobacco, grilling, glass bottles or outside alcohol brought in. Coolers will be checked at several entry points. Village Park is a tobacco free facility. The beer and wine tent will be open during concerts for alcohol sales, ID is required.
  • Children under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Parking for all events will be available at the outer parking lots along Dale Earnhardt Blvd. and down West C Street (overflow near the YMCA/ Library). During concerts, the Village Park parking lot will be reserved for handicap parking only (valid handicap placard or license plate required.)

TOAST OF KANNAPOLIS: WINE AND BEER FESTIVAL

 

 

August 19, 2017

 

The City of Kannapolis, along with the Friends of Downtown will be hosting the popular local wine and craft beer tasting event from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM in the Laureate Center at Kannapolis City Hall. A variety of local vineyards/wineries will be sharing a selection of their wines and local breweries will be in attendance as well.

 

Tickets will be for sale in advance and at the door for $25 a person. Get your tickets before July 19 and take advantage of special pricing of $20 per ticket. For ticket purchases, please visit this link or call (704) 920-4343.  Or, if you're out and about downtown, pick up your tickets at Editions Books Store - 217 South Main Street.

 

Admission includes a souvenir wine glass or stein, hors d'oeuvres, music, door prizes, and local sundries and crafts for purchase.


Must be 21+ and present ID to enter.

YOUTH PAINTING CLASS (Register)

   

Our art classes help kids explore their artistic abilities, with a great balance of trying different art techniques, discovering, making friends and learning new skills. An instructor will guide them step by step from a blank canvas to their finished masterpiece. We supply all the materials and inspiration. All the kids have to do is come ready to paint and have a great time.

ESCAPE ROOM (Register)

 

The challenge is to discover hidden clues, unlock secret codes, and solve 

puzzles in order to escape within an hour. Can your team of friends work together to complete the challenge? We'll find out.

DODGEBALL

FOOT GOLF


Foot golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is a combination of the games of soccer and golf. The rules and etiquette of Foot Golf largely mirror that of the game of golf, teeing off and playing consecutive shots until you have knocked your ball in the hole. A Foot Golf course has par 3's, 4's, and 5's, and you have to manage your way around the course in the least number of strokes as possible, avoiding water hazards, bunkers, and managing the natural terrain of the course.

CAPTURE THE FLAG


Get ready to run and have fun with a twist on an old playground game! Glow in the dark Capture the Flag!

YOUTH YOGA


Yoga for youth - Flexibility, concentration, and creativity are all a part of this hour-long program.
Bring your mat and bottle of water and get ready for fun!
Join us once or twice per week, depending on your schedule and attend as many as you would like!

A Boy and his Superhero: A Mother and Son Event (click here to register for tickets)

Join us at the Laureate Center for an evening of entertainment and fun. This program is designed for boys ages five (5) & up to be accompanied by his mom, step-mom, grandma, big sister, aunt, or special lady.

Dress anywhere from superhero in full costume or t-shirt to as mild mannered as Clark Kent in your casual wear. 

Enjoy and be comfortable and you will have a fabulous time! Please register EACH mother/son attending so we have an accurate RSVP. 

NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. TICKETS AVAILABLE WHILE SUPPLIES LAST AND THERE ARE ONLY 178 TICKETS AVAILABLE. SPACE IS LIMITED.

The Parks and Recreation Department occasionally offers trip opportunities for adults. Trips are for adults 18 and older unless otherwise noted. Trips sometimes have potential to last longer and/or end earlier than expected. Many trips may have a lot of walking so please wear comfortable shoes. MURRAY'S MILL AND HARPER HOUSE - Catawba, NC
