Cannon Ballers Homestand | Atrium Health Ballpark | June 9 - 14 | Ticketed Event

Head on down to Atrium Health Ballpark this week to cheer on your Kannapolis Cannon Ballers! Games will take place Tuesday, June 9 through Sunday, June 14. The Cannon Ballers will take on the Fredericksburg Nationals! Fireworks will follow the Friday and Saturday games.

The Gem Theatre’s Summer Movie Matinees continue this week! Join us at the Gem Theatre Tuesday, June 9 for a showing of Gabby’s Dollhouse (PG) and Thursday, June 11 for a showing of Kung Fu Panda 4 (PG). Tickets are $2 per person and show times are 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The Gem Theatre is located at 111 Laureate Way.

Crafting in the Park: Father’s Day Mugs | Village Park | 10 a.m. & 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 10 | Registration Required

Join Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department as they host a special Crafting in the Park event on June 10 in Village Park. Children, ages 2 - 13 are invited to create a personalized keepsake using a variety of colorful decals, paint, heartfelt messages and creative patterns.

This program will be offered at two convenient times, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Village Park Program Room. Participants only need to attend one time slot. The cost is $10 per person and registration is required. Space is limited for this event- reserve your spot today!

Join us in Veterans Park at 6 p.m., this Thursday, June 11 for Thursdays on Main featuring Rivermist. From Fayetteville, N.C. Rivermist is primarily a Classic Rock/ R&B/ Variety/ Party band that will keep you entertained all evening.

The concert is free to the public. Children 18 & under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. No pets or smoking please. Veterans Park is located at 119 N. Main Street. 

Food/drinks will be available for purchase, or attendees can bring their own food and nonalcoholic drinks. Coolers are allowed with no outside alcohol. Coolers are subject to search. Lawn chairs are permitted.

Yoga in the Park | Village Park Amphitheatre | 10 a.m., June 13 | $10 Per Person

Enjoy yoga in Village Park this week. Join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13 for a relaxing, one-hour outdoor yoga session. The class will take place at the Village Park Amphitheatre, located at 700 West C Street, and is open to participants of all skill levels.

Stories Under the Stars: SparkPoint Innovations | Afton Library | 7 p.m., Saturday, June 13 | Free

Stories Under the Stars are back this Saturday, June 13. SparkPoint Innovations will bring an out-of-this-world learning experience to the Afton Library on Saturday, June 13, with the Orbit Earth Expo.

Beginning at 7 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to explore seasons, moon phases, and other fascinating space science concepts through hands-on activities and giant inflatable planets. The free, family-friendly event will take place at Afton Library, located at 6095 Glen Afton Blvd., and is designed to inspire curiosity and discovery for attendees of all ages.

While you are Downtown, take advantage of the City of Kannapolis’ West Avenue Shuttles, Thunder and Lightning. The free shuttles run from 5–10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to help you as you navigate free parking options downtown.

The shuttles make a continuous loop between four designated stops: the NCRC public parking deck, the top of the horseshoe sidewalk, First Baptist Church, and the Swanee Theatre. A shuttle arrives at each stop approximately every five minutes. Both shuttles are ADA accessible.
