The City of Kannapolis recently honored the 2025 Run Kannapolis and Loop the Loop Challenge participants during a special ceremony.  

This past year over 1,900 individuals participated in the Run Kannapolis series. 58 of those individuals completed all eight of the 5K Run Kannapolis events! Awesome job! They received the designation of “BEAST”, during the ceremony. These individuals include: Amy Hartz, Andrew King, Andrew Messmer, Andrew Taylor, Brian Klock, Brian Edwards, Chandra Shepherd, Chelsey Barber, Christopher Clark, Ciera Goitia , David Clark, Debra Dandro, Donna Safrit, Duke Boger, Faith Neale, Frank Pancotto, Geoffrey Van Syckle, Greta Sapp, Jamie Hill, Janet Morrow, Jennifer Cox, Jennifer Dunbar, Jennifer Hodgson, Jennifer Sifford, Jeremy Julian , John Hocking , Jonathan Clark , Jordan Plemmons, Karissa Saubier, Karlie Neigel, Kelly Karns, Kio James, Kristin Shick, Kurt Cowley, Lara Shelton, Lee Williams, Lisa Boone, Mark Plemmons, Meredith White, Michael Fink, Michael Fischer, Michelle Mikoski, Morgan Milstead, Rebecca Clark, Rhonda Barber, Ricky Mills, Roger Stanton, Russ Hoyser, Ryan Saubier, Sara Cockerham, Sarah Scharbath, Seth Shepherd, Susan Love, Todd Lipe, Tori Strunk, Victor Aguilera, Yolanda Smith and Zachary Goitia.   

A total of six individuals completed seven of the eight runs, earning the title of “COMPETITOR”. Those individuals include Angela Ketchie, Cory Roberts, Dante Otero, Joshua Sherrill, Mary Olson and Tim Haley. 

The title of “ATHLETE” was given to the two individuals who participated in six of the eight runs. These individuals include Nancy Demeny and Sara Munday.  

A total of 15 individuals participated in five of the eight races and were recognized as “PARTICIPANT”.  Ann Burns, David Allred, Denise Crosby, Krista Watson, Lindsay Bowman, Lisa Pacuk, Marco Gonzalez, Marian Roberts, Marlin Mejia, Miriam Canela, Paula Hernandez, Ricardo Garcia-Huidobro, Sara Johnson, Steven Zollars and Wayne Hall. 

Additionally, individuals who participated in the Loop the Loop program received recognition during the ceremony. Loop the Loop is a series of loops around downtown Kannapolis and Kannapolis School facilities that people can walk, bike, or run. People are asked to complete and log at least 150 miles to qualify for prizes. This year, 79 people and dogs participated in the program. They walked, biked, or ran over 19,000 miles.  

There was a total of eight people who looped more than 1,000 miles, this year. Sylvia Anderson completed an incredible 3,240 miles and finished in first place. Jeff Flash finished in second with 1,166 miles and Jamie Hill finished third with 1,010 miles. Other individuals who completed over 1,000 miles include William Hobscheid and his dog La’La’, Russ Hoyser, David Roman and Tiffany Smith.  

Run Kannapolis and Loop the Loop are both programs associated with the City’s Discover a Healthy Life brand. Loops and routes are located throughout downtown Kannapolis and at every Kannapolis City School. You are welcome to walk anywhere in the City. The Loop the Loop program is free for everyone.
