Police and Fire Departments collect coats for kids A huge thank you to all of you who participated in our coat drive! We have collected almost 200 coats that will go to children in Kannapolis who need clothing to keep them warm this winter.

A special thank you to the family of Max Shanks for their donation of 50 coats. Max, 7, was tragically killed in a car accident this summer. His family collected dozens of coats, mittens, scarves, socks, and hats in his memory and donated them to our coat drive as well as the Charlotte Rescue Mission.

Fire Chief Tracy Winecoff and Police Captain Jennifer Clarke were able to meet the family, Charlotte Rescue Mission staff, and WBTV's Molly Grantham, to receive the coats.
