The Kannapolis Police Department welcomes seven new police officers, Adrian Attaway, Henry Brown, Alexandra Grishaw, Brooks Jones, Desmond Knox, Glenn Tingen,  and William Wheat.  They have completed their basic law enforcement training (BLET) and are now assigned to patrol units to complete their field training. 

Officer Adrian Attaway is a graduate of West Charlotte High School. He earned a medical administration diploma from ECPI and a graduate of the BLET program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He was previously employed as a detention officers with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. He is the son of Marion Attaway and Joanne Barnette. He is married to Shonta’ and has a son, Justice and a stepson, Jaiden.

Officer Henry Brown is a graduate of Carson High School and Appalachian State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the BLET program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He is the son of Judge Charles Brown and Emily Ford.

Officer Alexandra Grishaw is a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She is also a graduate of the BLET program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She is the daughter of Edward and Kristi Grishaw.

Officer Brooks Jones is a graduate of Robinson High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a focus in public relations. He is also a graduate of the BLET program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College.  He is the son of Craig and Barbi Jones.

Officer Desmond Knox is a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and he studied criminal justice at Appalachian State University. He completed the BLET program at the N.C. Highway Patrol Academy. He is the son of Howard Knox III and Tammi Knox.

Officer Glen Tingen is a graduate of Jordan High School and Western Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in science. He is also a graduate of the BLET program at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He is the son of Norman and Linda Tingen. He and his wife, Kate, have three children.

Officer William Wheat attended West Mecklenburg High school and completed his GED from Central Piedmont Community College. He served in the U.S. Army and received several medals, commendations and badges for his actions while in service. He was previously employed as a Correctional Lieutenant with the N.C. Department of Public Safety. He is the son of William Wheat and Kathy Holub. He has two sons, Corey and Cameron.
