City Seeks Proposals for Affordable Housing and Small Residential Infill Projects > City of Kannapolis | City of Kannapolis

The City of Kannapolis has adopted the Kannapolis Wastewater Allocation Policy. This policy will manage the limited amount of sewer capacity allocated to the City through the year 2027. The policy states that the City will have a Strategic Reserve of wastewater allocation that the Kannapolis City Council can choose to provide for affordable housing projects and small residential infill projects. The allocation may be granted by the City Council approximately once every six months.

The City is now putting out a Request for Proposals (RFP) for affordable housing and small residential and nonresidential infill projects that need sewer allocation commitments in 2022. Projects will be evaluated based on quality and, in the case of affordable housing, the demonstrated ability to meet the need for low income housing.

Proposals are due by 5 pm on Thursday, March 31. City staff plans to notify applicants by the end of April or early May of the status of their proposals.
