The Kannapolis Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be held in Veterans Park on Monday, May 30th. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and travels down Main Street in Kannapolis from the North Carolina Research Campus parking deck to Veterans Park. In recognition of National Police Week and in memory of our own Officer Roger Dale Carter, who was killed in the line of duty on December 31, 1993, Kannapolis Police Department had nine representatives participating in the Bike2DC ride May 9-12. Kansas City Barbeque Society judges spend Saturday afternoon very carefully judging 74 teams from 7 states who competed in the categories of chicken, ribs, pork and brisket at the Jiggy with the Piggy Festival in Kannapolis. The judges chose the winners based on taste, appearance and tenderness. Sauced! BBQ of Charlotte was named the Grand Champion of the event and won $2,000. With 270 walkers/runners the Jiggy with the Piggy 5K was a huge success Tuesday evening. We loved seeing all of the participants in the Jiggiest Costume Contest. Hope everyone had a great time and will continue to participate in the rest of the Run Kannapolis Series this year.
