City of Kannapolis Winter Weather Update – 9 a.m. – December 9, 2018 Streets are very treacherous at this time. The City is experiencing a mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain. The City of Kannapolis Public Works Department is ready if winter does decide to send us snow this weekend. Crews have been busy hooking up snowplows to trucks and loading the salt spreaders. Brining on the streets began this morning. The City uses a salt brine system on the streets before a winter storm event to reduce ice sticking to the roads. The Kannapolis Christmas Parade, sponsored by Cannon Pharmacy, will celebrate its 80th Birthday this year when it returns to Main Street, at 6 p.m., tomorrow, on December 8.
