Fifteen people have been honored for completing all seven 5K events as part of the Run Kannapolis Series. In its first year over 1,000 people walked or ran in at least one of the seven 5K events held in the City. The Run Kannapolis series is part of the City’s Discover a Healthy Life brand.

Nine people completed six races; 14 completed five races; and 28 people finished four races.

Anyone participating in four or more races received a special Run Kannapolis medal; five race participants received a medal and Run Kannapolis lunch cooler; six or more received a medal and a Run Kannapolis blanket and if you completed all seven races you received a medal and a Run Kannapolis backpack.

The series, one of the City of Kannapolis’ premier health initiatives, has a new event and a new partner for 2016. Carolinas Healthcare System will join the City as a partner in hosting the Run Kannapolis Series.

 The new event host is Duke University’s MURDOCK Study who will hold the Duke Dash 5K and Healthfest on September 24.

Runners/walkers are encouraged to participate in the entire series of races and series awards will be provided to only those who finish at least five events. For those who participate and finish all seven events, there will be special recognition at the end of 2016. 

The eight participating 5K events are:
March 19 - Spring It On 5K (Kannapolis City Schools
April 9 - Feeding Frenzy 5K (Main Street Mission/Compassion International)
April 23 - Strides for Stroke 5K (Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast)
May 3 - Jiggy with the Piggy 5K (Kannapolis Parks & Recreation)
May 14 - Rhythm & Run 5K (NC Music Hall of Fame)
September 24 - Duke Dash & 3rd Annual Healthfest (Duke University’s MURDOCK Study)
November 12 - Nutrithon 5K (Kannapolis Rotary Club)
December 17 - Frostbite 5K (Cannon Memorial YMCA – Kannapolis Branch)


When you register for one of these events you will automatically be entered into Run Kannapolis. There is no fee for Run Kannapolis. Your entry into the individual races listed above will be used to track your participation. You simply pay the entry fee for each individual event that you want to compete in.
