For the second year in a row, the Kannapolis Intimidators will be playing postseason baseball after capturing the wild card spot on the final day of the season in the South Atlantic League.

Needing a win and a West Virginia loss at Charleston on Monday, the Intimidators took care of business that evening in Hagerstown, 9-4, with Charleston beating West Virginia, 7-4, helping the Intimidators reach postseason play.

Tied 3-3 in the seventh, the Intimidators exploded for a four-run seventh inning on three hits and two walks, highlighted by a Tate Blackman two-run double, propelling themselves by the Power. At almost the exact same moment in Charleston, the RiverDogs scored three runs in the eighth inning on a three-run homer, leading to their 7-4 victory over West Virginia.

With the final day shaped up in favor of the Intimidators, Kannapolis will host the Lakewood BlueClaws for the first game of a best-of-three series in the 2018 South Atlantic League Playoffs Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.

This season, the Intimidators have played the BlueClaws 10 times throughout three series, with Kannapolis winning six games and taking two out of the three series. The Intimidators have outscored the BlueClaws 36-to-30.

Tickets can be purchased for just $3 at Intimidatorsbaseball.com as part of our #DriveToTheChampionship promotion. Also, on Wednesday, there will be a drawing where one lucky fan attending the ball game will win 2019 season tickets.
