The City of Kannapolis Community Development Commission is hosting a free movie showing of “A House Divided,” a segment of the “America Divided” series. The movie will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 416 E First St., Kannapolis.

The movie series is comprised of stories of what inequality looks like in everyday life, with solutions that can help to unite the country. In “A House Divided,” Norman Lear explores the housing divide in New York City, where a record number of homeless people are living in the shadows of luxury skyscrapers filled with apartments purposely being kept empty.

A panel discussion will follow the movie and will be led by Trinity United Methodist Church Pastor Kirk Tutterow, First Baptist Church Pastor Claude Forehand, Attorney Kristen Thompson, N.C. Legal Aid and others.

The public is invited to attend this event and have a conversation on how housing issues can impact our community and how we can work together to resolve them.

Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Sherry Gordon, Kannapolis Community Development Director at sgordon@kannapolisnc.gov.
