The City of Kannapolis invites the public to the Atrium Health Ballpark Open House Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 4.
Following a short ceremony, the ballpark will be open for you and your family to tour. You will be able to enjoy a behind the scenes self-guided tour of the dugouts, player locker rooms, batting cages, and more. You will want to tour now as most of the areas will be closed to the public once the baseball season gets underway on April 16.
The Open House Celebration will also include lots of fun, music, games, prizes, surprises and more. Team mascot Boomer will be on-hand for autographs and selfies. The event is free to the public but get ready to taste new concession foods which will be available for purchase.
“We are excited for people to see this incredible venue for baseball and special events. It is already serving as the catalyst for the revitalization of our downtown with investors building and renovating businesses and homes here in Kannapolis. We are looking forward to the sights and sounds of thousands of people who will attend the 70 home ballgames starting in April,” commented Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant.
The Atrium Health Ballpark is the new home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Located on West Avenue in downtown Kannapolis, the new state of the art venue is designed to give fans a great experience while watching the game with friends and family. The venue will also host concerts and other entertainment events.
The ballpark will have a seating capacity of 4,930 with 3,218 of those being fixed seats. Other seating options will include luxury suites, a party deck, berm seating, premium dugout box seats, a picnic terrace, an outfield bar, and right field boxes.
The venue will have 6,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space that you can rent for conferences, meetings, and special events. It is designed as a public park with restrooms, and includes a children’s playground with a splash pad. The public will able to walk the concourse daily as part of the City’s Discover a Healthy Life and Loop the Loop initiatives.
The Atrium Health Ballpark is an anchor for the City’s Downtown Revitalization Project and has already resulted in commitments by private investors for an adjacent mixed-use development, VIDA, totaling more than $60 million. VIDA is under construction now and includes over 200 apartments, retail and restaurants and a public parking deck. It will open in early 2021.
