Kannapolis Fire Explorers Post 001 recently competed in the 10th annual Millers Ferry Junior Fire Muster. This event was held on September 16th at Millers Ferry Volunteer Fire Department in Rowan County. Four teams from around North Carolina participated in five events throughout the competition. In conjunction with this year’s Fire Truck Parade and Open House, the Kannapolis Fire Department is hosting a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 30 in The Laureate Center at City Hall. For the 6th year in a row, Kannapolis Fire Department (KFD) competed in the Charlotte Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Team KFD climbed the Duke Energy Building in Uptown on Saturday, September 9th with 700 other participants to honor the 343 New York firefighters, 60 police officers, and 10 EMS personnel who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  The Charlotte climb was one of many held around the country to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS. New site boasts more square-footage and additional benefits to the College   Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will move the cosmetology, esthetics and manicuring programs in Kannapolis to a new location as part of the City’s Downtown Revitalization. The current location at 120 West Avenue, is a key site in the City of Kannapolis’ plans to bring a new stadium to downtown Kannapolis. As Fall approaches, the Village Park Rotary Express, Splash Pad, and Carousel will operate on a limited schedule after Labor Day, Monday, September 4.
