This year we launched a new initiative, Run Kannapolis, as part of the City’s Discover a Healthy Life brand. Run Kannapolis is a series of seven 5K walks/runs in the City.  We hope that you have been able to participate in one of the Runs. To date we have had 130 people run/walk in two or more of the events. The Cities of Concord and Kannapolis announced today (July 20) that customers of both municipalities’ water systems should now follow Level 1 water use restrictions, due to regional drought conditions. Four new officers have joined the Kannapolis Police Department. They have been awarded their probationary certification by the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and are currently completing their field training requirements. Daniel Wade Frazier is assigned to Patrol Squad A. He graduated from Stanley Community College’s BLET program. Frazier is a graduate of Freedom High School in Morganton, NC. As work continues on the Interstate 85 widening project in Cabarrus County, motorists will begin to notice new, temporary traffic patterns in place along the interstate and its interchange with U.S. 29/601. The traffic shifts will allow crews to focus on interchange work and construction in the median. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. There will be no disruption in garbage and recycling collection service. All Kannapolis parks will be open for regular operating hours from dawn until dusk.
