All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Monday, September 5, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Garbage and recycling collection service will run on its normal schedule. All Kannapolis parks will be open for regular operating hours from dawn until dusk. Monday night, the Kannapolis City Council selected Lansing Melbourne Group (LMG) for the development of a mixed use district known as the Demonstration Project. LMG proposes investing over $60 million in the project. The City of Kannapolis and the N.C. Department of Transportation will work together on a project to improve the safety of the Lane Street corridor which is a state roadway and one of the City’s major gateways.
