The City of Kannapolis welcomes SNP Therapeutics, a new medical food and supplement company to the North Carolina Research Campus. The company, SNP Therapeutics (pronounced “snip”), was formed a year ago in labs at the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) in Kannapolis, N.C. Traffic/Water Alert - A waterline has been damaged at the intersection of Breckenridge Road and Kansas Street. This intersection will be closed while the waterline is repaired. Homes on Breckenridge Rd., Kansas St., Carolina Ave. and Dakota St. may be without water. Crews are on site and working now to make repairs. Repairs may take up to 6 hours.

Cabarrus County real estate and personal property tax bills will mail to residents on July 26. Property tax bills are due on September 1 and are classified as past due if not paid before January 7, 2020. Residents also have the option of viewing their property tax bills online at, www.cabarruscounty.us/tax. Residents in Concord, Harrisburg, Kannapolis, Locust, Mt. The Kannapolis Police Department welcomes three new police officers, Sathina Guard, Taylor Honeycutt and Lucas Kincaid. They have completed their basic law enforcement training and will now be assigned patrol units to complete their field training. The City of Kannapolis has been recognized by the North Carolina Department of Labor for maintaining a safe and healthful workplace in 2018. The statewide program includes more than 5,000 North Carolina firms, and about 3,000 awards are presented each year. The City of Kannapolis is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of eight buildings in the heart of downtown on West Avenue. The buildings, which date from the 1930-50s, are located across from the entrance to the Sports and Entertainment Venue and near the VIDA Mixed Use District. With the retirement of Kannapolis Fire Chief Ernie Hiers, Rick Barnhardt has been named Interim Fire Chief. Rick Barnhardt has been with the Kannapolis Fire Department for 22 years.
