The City of Kannapolis Public Works Department is streamlining and improving the collection of waste to help residents dispose of these items properly. The Kannapolis City Council has approved the FY 2020 budget. The FY 2020 budget is $75,513,726 which includes all seven operating funds of the City. The budget includes no property tax increase. The current tax rate will remain at .63 cents per $100 valuation - a home valued at $150,000 will pay $945 annually in property taxes for all City services. All City of Kannapolis offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. There will be no disruption in garbage and recycling collection service; however, there will be no collection of yard debris. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m., Friday, July 5. All Kannapolis parks will be open regular operating hours from dawn until dusk on July 4. The Kannapolis Fire Department dedicated Fire Station #3 today with a fire hose uncoupling ceremony and public tours of the facility located on Concord Lake Road. Kannapolis City Council members were on hand to dedicate the station by uncoupling a fire hose which was stretched across the fire truck bay which signaled the station is now operational. N.C. The Kannapolis Police Department announces the following promotions of personnel. Daniel Wallace has been promoted to Captain; Allen Tomlin has been promoted to the position of Lieutenant; and Travis Kiser has been promoted to Sergeant. “We are proud of all these officers, and we know they will be a big part in leading the department into the future,” said Chief Woody Chavis.
