City of Kannapolis officials have been closely monitoring Hurricane Florence. Based on the most recent weather forecasts we expect to receive 6-10 inches of rainfall and wind gusts of up to 35 mph over the duration of the event. We will continue to watch the hurricane’s path closely as this forecast could change. Public Work crews have been working to clean storm drains and ditches to ensure rainfall can flow freely into the city’s storm drain systems and to avoid flooded streets as much as possible.

Police and fire staff are ready to respond to any emergencies if the need arises. The public should call 704-920-4200 for all NON-EMERGENCIES. Please help us by only calling 911 if you have an EMERGENCY.

We are also in touch with county and state officials and will be ready to request assistance and various other resources if necessary. We ask that you pay attention to official state/federal sources for current information.

We have setup a website for all Hurricane related information: www.kannapolisnc.gov/readykannapolis. You will find some of the most frequently asked questions, resources and general information you may need in relation to hurricane preparedness. We will update this page as necessary during the hurricane event.
