As of July 1, residents in the cities of Concord and Kannapolis, and the unincorporated areas of Cabarrus County have access to a new waste collection calendar and reminder system. The same platform includes a Waste Wizard, which provides information on how materials can be reused, recycled, composted or disposed of within their community. There are two ways to access the waste collection system.

From any device and web browser, residents can visit the websites for Concord (concordnc.gov), Kannapolis (kannapolisnc.gov) and Cabarrus County (cabarruscounty.us) to access the entire suite of new tools including:

•a real-time collection calendar linked to a home address;
•registration for waste collection reminders delivered by email, phone call and text message;
•collection schedule integration with iCal, Google calendar or Microsoft Outlook calendar formats;
•and printable collection schedules.

Residents can also download the new mobile app, CabConKan CARTology, for Apple or Android devices. Just search for CARTology in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). From the app, you can learn how to dispose of items, view your collection calendar and receive notifications.

"We are proud to partner with our friends in Kannapolis and Cabarrus County to make these tools available to the greater community," said Concord Mayor Bill Dusch. "This is one more example of how we can work together to improve services."

"Our residents in Kannapolis, as well as our neighbors in Concord and the County, are already doing a great job reusing, composting, recycling and otherwise diverting waste from the landfill," said Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant. "This will now make it even easier to learn about solid waste management in our community with our new online tools and mobile app."

"Giving residents direct access to real-time information is a great step forward and falls in line with our customer service goals," said Cabarrus Board of County Commissioners Chairman Steve Morris. "It's a handy resource and another example of how local partnerships make life easier on our residents."

In addition to regular waste pick up, all county residents are encouraged to dispose of household hazardous waste, including paint, pesticides, brake fluid, gas and other chemicals, at the County's Household Hazardous Waste facility, at 246 General Service Drive in Concord. The County also manages a Construction and Demolition Landfill at 4441 Irish Potato Road, Concord. The CARTology website and app include a full listing of accepted products, hours and collection schedules for both locations.
