(Informational Public Meeting is February 28)

The Parks and Recreation Department is working to expand the greenway system in Kannapolis. Currently, the City has three greenways: 8th Street, Bakers Creek and a ½ mile segment on the Rocky River.

Phase I of the Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway is expected to begin in 2018. The survey and preliminary design work are completed and right of way acquisition will begin this year. This 2.6 mile greenway will run along the sewer easement in the area. City staff will preserve most of the trees along the 10 foot wide paved greenway in order to make the trail as beautiful as possible and to help drainage issues in the area.

The Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway will have three public access points: Oakwood Avenue (across from the Lantern Green and Stonewyck neighborhoods); Vietnam Veterans Park and Rogers Lake Road.

There will be a public drop-in meeting on the Irish Buffalo Creek Greenway from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, in the Laureate Center at Kannapolis City Hall, 401 Laureate Way.
