Monday night, the Kannapolis City Council approved a brewery production and taproom business, in downtown Kannapolis as part of the Kannapolis Revitalization Plan.

Third Dimension Brewery will lease property located at 100 West Avenue. The property is located adjacent to the proposed future home of the Kannapolis Intimidators. Bill Collins of Third Dimension Brewery owns Firefly Hollow Brewing in Bristol, Connecticut. He is expanding his brewery operations to Kannapolis after hearing about the City’s Downtown Revitalization plans and the market potential which exists in this region. This will be the first brewery in Kannapolis.

Collins expects Third Dimension Brewery to be a beer production facility and tap room which would produce over 200 barrels a month. Locally prepared offsite food and catering will be available for purchase at the brewery. The lease will be for five years with the option to purchase the property. Collins will pay the City lease monies of $81,036 annually. He will also spend $589,000 to up fit the property for its use as a brewery and taproom. Based on his experience Collins projects 2,000 people will visit the location on an average weekend once the business is established. The brewery is expected to open in Fall of 2017.

“A brewery and taproom is an ideal partner for our baseball team and the proposed sports and entertainment venue which is planned for the adjacent property. We are pleased that our Downtown Revitalization Plan is attracting national attention and garnering the type of businesses we know will be successful in our City”, commented Kannapolis City Manager Mike Legg.

“This is one of the best downtown revitalization plans I have seen and I am excited to be part of this effort”, said Bill Collins.
